MEADVILLE, PA (SEPTEMBER 16, 2020) – Channellock, Inc., is joining with one of its charitable partners, Homes for Our Troops (HFOT), to celebrate a significant milestone. The 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, which builds and donates specially adapted custom homes to severely injured post-9/11 Veterans nationwide, just handed the keys over to the owner of its 300th home.
HFOT donated the home to Army Sergeant Nathan Shumaker in Hillsboro, Missouri. SGT Shumaker, a Purple Heart recipient, was severely injured while serving in Afghanistan. His new home features more than 40 major special adaptations such as widened doorways for wheelchair access, a roll-in shower and kitchen amenities that include pull-down shelving and lowered countertops. In addition to being a sponsor of HFOT, CHANNELLOCK® also donated tools to SGT Shumaker to use in his new home.
“Regaining their independence within their adapted homes enables these Veterans to achieve amazing things,” said Ryan DeArment, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Channellock, Inc. “Most importantly, the homes provide comfort and security for these Veterans and their families, especially during these trying times. CHANNELLOCK® is proud to support Homes For Our Troops’ mission of building homes and rebuilding lives.”
